Kidder Township Hike and Bike Trails Group hosted its first Float Your Boat fundraiser Sunday afternoon at Split Rock Resort’s lagoon on Lake Harmony.

The event raised $11,000 to support the construction of trails in the township.

Boats were judged in the following three categories: sailboat, party boat and showboat. Two members from each team were permitted into the water to help their entries by creating currents and blowing on them, but no hands were allowed once the boats hit the water.

The Lake Harmony Rescue Squad’s boat took “Best in Show.”

Kerril Lanum, an EMT, and her partner Jim Dau raced the boat.

In addition to the boats, there was music provided by Friends of Rodger and Mike and Sam.

“Trail construction has started on the trail phase from Big Boulder Drive and Lake Harmony,” said township Supervisor Barbara Franzosa. “The trail plan is on display at the Kidder Township Municipal Building.”

Anyone wishing to support this project can mail a check to the Kidder Hike and Bike Trail Group, P.O. Box 70, Albrightsville, PA 18210.

Franzosa said all contributions are tax deductible.
