Christy spotted in Still Creek, warning issued to local residents
Fugitive Shawn Christy continues to make life tense for residents of the Hometown and Still Creek sections of Rush Township.
The 27-year-old McAdoo man wanted for threatening President Donald Trump is believed to have broken into a residence along Ben Titus Road late last night, where he reportedly was held at gunpoint by the homeowner who didn’t recognize him. He then managed to escape.
According to state police in Hazleton, the homeowner said the intruder claimed to be a bum, homeless and searching for food. Christy, who was wearing blue jeans, an olive drab military-style T-shirt and a red baseball hat, then fled into a wooded area. He reportedly now has a thick, bushy beard.
The incident took place 2 miles east of Route 309 near the Schuylkill-Carbon county line, approximately 5 miles away from Christy’s hometown.
Members of local, state and federal law enforcement then converged on the area and conducted a search of the road and nearby woods.
Troopers said that the search is ongoing.
Ben Titus Road is about 3 miles from Tide Road, where a truck allegedly stolen by Christy in Maryland was found abandoned earlier in the week, an event that triggered an areawide manhunt and even a search of some buildings and homes.
Early this morning, the Rush Township board of supervisors issued a warning to residents.
“We cannot stress to everyone enough to keep your doors locked and stay vigilant. Shawn Christy was on Ben Titus Road this evening and broke into a house.
“Please report any suspicious activity to our police department or the 911 center.”
Christy is wanted by the FBI for making threats against Trump and Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli.
Sightings, information or tips about Christy’s possible location can be made to 911 or the U.S. Marshals at 877-Wanted-2.
Troopers said that anyone who sees Christy should not approach him as he is considered armed and dangerous and should call 911 immediately.
Any suspicious activity should also be reported to police immediately as well.
Federal authorities have announced a $20,000 reward for information leading Christy’s arrest.
