Bethany EC Church

Bethany EC Church, 222 North St. holds Sunday worship with the Rev. Jeff Stansbury, pastor.

Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. with classes for all ages, including adult Bible study class, morning worship at 10:45 a.m., preschool nursery available and Jr. Church provided for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Tuesday: Ladies Bible study, 10 a.m. at Blocker’s residence.

Wednesday: Prayer meeting, 7 p.m.

In need of men’s new or slightly used casual clothing of all sizes and children sizes up to size 12 to be distributed at St. Peter’s community resource center. Clothing can be dropped off at side entrance to Bethany EC Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Crossroads Community Church

Crossroads Community Church, 580 Coal St., holds Sunday worship service with Pastor Jim Banks. It is a place for a fresh start with God.

Adult Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; contemporary worship service at 10:30 a.m. with nursery available; children’s Sunday school at 11 a.m.; fellowship following service.

Communion: Last Sunday of the month.

St. John’s Lutheran

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Drive W. Lehighton.

Worship Service: Saturday, 6:30 p.m. with Holy Communion and Sunday, 9 a.m. with Holy Communion.

Worship and Rally Day Service: Sept. 9, 9 a.m. After service we will have a morning of cleanup and grounds work, inside and outside the church property. We are calling all members of all ages to join us as we beautify God’s house. Wear work clothes to church that day and bring your gardening gloves. We will have tools and cleaning supplies on hand.

Joy Meeting: Sept. 11 at 11 a.m.

Worship service: Sept. 15, 6:30 p.m.

Worship service: Sept. 16, 9 a.m. Harvest Home and Sunday school at 10:15 a.m.

Confirmation class: Sept. 16, 10:30 a.m. we will begin another year of Confirmation classes. Please call the office at 570-386-9960 and leave a message or send email to stjohns@ptd.net and tell us the name of the child in the seventh or eighth grade who will be starting classes this year.

Trinity highlights

First Saturday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, is at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m. Gluten-free wafers are available at both times for those with allergy issues. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Rich Bergen assists. Coffeehouse fellowship is at 10:30 a.m. The church is air-conditioned.

First Tuesday quiet communion is at 10 a.m. Sept. 4.

The regular Sunday morning church school for students age 3 through sixth grade returns weekly at 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 9. In addition, catechism classes for students in seventh and eighth grades also resume. Students eligible for confirmation classes need their names registered at the church office by Aug. 31 so that the curriculum material be available when new classes begin.

For those desiring to arrange a baptismal date, Pastor Moore will share information at 1 p.m. Sept. 21. For those desiring to seek membership at Trinity, Pastor Moore will provide information at 1 p.m. Sept. 30. Please contact the church office in advance at 610-377-4303 to register.

“Breaking Bread” Youth Group for students in grades 7-12 will meet in the youth room from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 16. “Thunder & Lightning” youth group for students in grades 4-6 will meet in the youth room from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 19. Led by Vicar Rich Bergen, the group has supper, Bible study with discussion, service project and games.
