Carbon County court — DUI

Three defendants in driving under the influence cases entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Thursday. President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II accepted the pleas from the following:

Jesse Glenn Harrell III, 29, of Saylorsburg, was arrested on Jan. 31 along Covered Bridge Road in Lower Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. He refused a test. He pleaded to driving under suspension, DUI related. The DUI count was dropped in a plea agreement with the district attorney’s office.

Nanovic sentenced him to serve 90 days in jail, a fine of $1,000 and court costs of $1,000.

He will begin serving the prison term at 9 a.m. on Sept. 10.

Ryan Robert Montgomery, 42, of White Haven, was arrested on Aug. 31, 2017, along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. He was charged with DUI of a controlled substance. He refused to submit to testing.

He also pleaded to driving under suspension, DUI related.

Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation. He is currently an inmate in the county prison on other charges.
