Man cited for stealing from friend's vehicle

A West Penn Township man was cited by Tamaqua police after an incident on July 13.

Daniel Kevin Goepfert, 20, of Zehners Crossing Drive, went to a residence on West Spruce Street at 11:30 p.m. to visit a friend. When told the friend was asleep, Goepfert left the porch, but didn't leave the area before going through his friend's Jeep.

The next day, the victim noticed things out of place in his Jeep, with $20 in change missing. He checked his video surveillance system and caught Goepfert going through the vehicle twice, at 11:35 and again about one hour later.

Goepfert was cited for theft from a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.
