Voters need a choice
Dear Mr. Frassinelli,
Excellent editorial on the lack of competition in state races. I get so annoyed when I hear Pennsylvania legislators go on about our “wonderful democracy” and then draw district lines to preserve the incumbents. There is something wrong with that democracy when over 1/3 of the seats have only one candidate. My advice to people in those one-candidate districts is to write in someone’s name just to show their displeasure.
I understand that it is difficult for local parties to recruit candidates when they know those candidates have a remote chance of winning, but it is important that they at least give the voters a choice.
Sincerely,
Roy Christman
