One dead after two-car crash on turnpike
A Wayne County man is dead following a two-car crash early Wednesday morning on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Kidder Township.
State police Pocono barracks said the incident occurred at 5:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes as Joshua Correa, 30, of Lake Ariel, was operating his 1998 Chrysler Sebring south on I-476 in the right lane approaching MP 89.4
A 2017 Volvo driven by Brett St Louis, 62, of Northville, New York, was also on I-476 in the right lane traveling south ahead of the Chrysler.
For unknown reasons, Correa failed to see the Volvo and ran into the rear of the vehicle, with the front of the Chrysler impacting with the rear of the trailer on the Volvo.
St Louis, feeling the impact from the crash, maintained control of his vehicle and pulled over to the right shoulder to a stop just before MP 89.3.
Correa did not survive the impact, and was pronounced dead at 6:44 a.m. by Coroner Gerald D. Jones, Deputy Chief Coroner.
Correa was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the incident.
St Louis, who may have suffered possible injury, was wearing his seat belt at the time of the incident.
