Carbon County court — drug cases

A Carbon County man admitted in the county court on Monday to a drug-dealing charge.

He was one of four defendants in pending drug-related cases to enter a guilty plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Vehicle stop

Caleb Joseph Herman, 28, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, heroin.

He was arrested following an ongoing investigation by borough police and the county drug task force into drug dealing in the borough. Police learned that Herman and his wife, Allison M. Herman, 31, both of the 600 block of Center Street, had gone to Hazleton on Sept. 11, 2017, to secure heroin. Upon their return, police made a vehicle stop. Police found 53 wax baggies of heroin in the vehicle.

Allison Herman was also charged. In a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office she was placed in the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Dec. 7, 2017.

Serfass deferred sentencing.

Other pleas

Dane Skrimcovsky, 32, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded in three pending cases to one count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

He was arrested on the possession of a controlled substance charge on Sept. 28, 2017, by Jim Thorpe police in the 400 block of Fern Street. He was previously placed in the county’s ARD program but revoked because of other criminal charges.

The paraphernalia charge stems from an April 13 incident in Jim Thorpe in the 800 block of Center Street.

The DUI occurred on May 27 along Sixth Street and was filed by Lehighton police.

Sentencing was deferred so Skrimcovsky can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation for the DUI count.

Samantha Lee Goodhile, 22, of Weissport, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was arrested on March 7 by Lehighton police in the parking lot of Dunkin’ Donuts. She was a passenger in the vehicle.

Serfass placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee and render 50 hours of community service.

Ryan Eckhart, 33, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested on Aug. 8, 2017, by Jim Thorpe police following a traffic stop along Lehigh Avenue.

Sentencing was deferred.
