Tamaqua man jailed on for drugs, warrant
A Tamaqua man picked up by police on Aug. 9 for outstanding arrest warrants faces additional charges after drug-related items were found in his pockets and backpack.
Matthew R. Bachman, 30, of 305 Washington St., was walking in the area of the Five Points intersection at 12:59 a.m. when he was spotted by an officer who knew about the warrants.
He was taken into custody and searched before being transported for arraignment. Officers found a scale, a cut straw with white residue, two pills labeled M366, a white crystal rock, which field tested positive for methamphetamine, numerous empty baggies, and $247.
Bachman was arraigned before on-call District Judge David Rossi of Tremont, who set bail at $40,000 straight cash, and then taken to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.
He will also be charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
