Published September 20. 2018 02:38PM

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on recent crashes investigated by troopers.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 1:37 p.m. Friday along Bulls Head Road in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Gregory A. Hamilton, 53, of Pottsville, was eastbound driving a 2015 Jeep Wrangler when he stopped for oncoming traffic attempting to make a left turn.

Patrick A. Quinn, 19, of Seltzer, driving a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, failed to see Hamilton stopped. The front of the Cobalt hit the rear of the Ford.

Quinn was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital — East, Pottsville, for treatment of a possible injury, troopers said. Hamilton was not injured. Troopers cited Quinn for careless driving.

• A second crash was reported at 5 p.m. Friday along Second Mountain Road in North Manheim Township. Tobi A. Metz, 36, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2001 General Motors van eastbound when he fell asleep at the wheel.

The van traveled through both lanes of travel and onto the berm, then down an embankment for about 10 feet before it struck a large tree. The left side of the van struck the tree.

Metz was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by emergency personnel from the Orwigsburg and Landingville fire companies and a Schuylkill EMS unit. He was taken to the Reading Hospital for treatment.

Troopers cited Metz for careless driving.
