Schuylkill County to purchase new fingerprinting system
Schuylkill County will have a new, $25,763 state-of-the-art fingerprinting system.
County commissioners on Wednesday approved the purchase at the request of Sheriff Joseph G. Groody and Chief Deputy Sheriff Brian Tobin.
The new system replaces one that is eight years old, Tobin said.
The Live Scan/CPIN All-In-One system is for the sheriff’s office central booking division.
The price includes a full one-year warranty, installation and is reduced in that the current software can be reused in the new system. It will be brought up to the latest version at the time of installation, Tobin said.
In other matters, commissioners approved the attendance of nine employees at the annual statewide Domestic Relations Association of Pennsylvania conference in Gettysburg.
The four-day conference runs from Sept. 23-27.
The conference will allow staff to learn about updates of federal regulations, case law and statutes relating to child-support matters, upcoming mandates, guidance on new equipment and instruction on performance improvement modules.
Also on Wednesday, commissioners issued a proclamation marking September as National Recovery Month.
The theme is Join the Voices for Recovery: Invest in Health, Home, Purpose and Community.
The proclamation promotes the conviction that prevention works, treatment is effective and people recover.
The proclamation recognizes that one in four families in Pennsylvania are affected by mental and substance-use disorders.
