A look back: Sept. 28, 1966
The Pennsylvania draft call for October includes nine Carbon County youths, the State Selective Service Headquarters disclosed today in Harrisburg.
The nine slated for induction from the county represent a decline of five as compared with the October 1965 total of 14 drafted.
Selective Service Headquarters said the nine registrants will come from local board 43, Jim Thorpe, and report for induction on Oct. 20.
Throughout the state as a whole, 3,170 Pennsylvanians are being called to fill the state’s quota of 3,090 for October. The year ago quota was 3,459.
