Pigs killed in early morning turnpike crash
State police at Pocono are investigating a crash on the northeast extension of the turnpike around 6:30 this morning along the southbound lanes in Franklin Township. A southbound tractor trailer apparently had its rear doors open and began losing its cargo, live pigs, along the roadway between the Pocono and Lehigh Valley exits. At the 78.8 mile marker a man operating a late model Jeep struck one of the pigs in the high speed lane. He was not injured in the incident. At least two of the pigs were killed in the incident.
