Reading man dies when car hits rig

A Reading man died as a result of injuries he sustained in a two-vehicle crash at 2:59 a.m. Thursday on Route 222 (Hamilton Boulevard) in Upper Macungie Township.

Bradley S. Mayer, 23, was pronounced dead at 6:37 a.m. in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, according to Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim, who said the death was caused by multiple traumatic injuries.

Upper Macungie Township police said he was driving a vehicle southbound on Route 222 when it crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a tractor trailer operated by Luis Cabrerra, 49, of Queens, New York. Police said Route 222 was closed for hours while the wreckage was cleared from the scene.
