State Police at Lehighton - DUI cases
State police at the Lehighton barracks have investigated DUIs in the area. Police did not release names of those charged in the following cases:
• Police said they were flagged down and advised that a 56-year-old woman from Lehighton, operating a Nissan sedan, was intoxicated and causing a disturbance while getting gas in the area of Delaware Avenue and First Street in Palmerton. Police determined she was driving under the influence and was taken for a breath test. The woman will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
• A 59-year-old Bowmanstown man is facing charges of driving under the influence after policewere called to an incident at 8:04 p.m.Aug. 18 in the area ofSouth Second Street in Lower Towamensing Township. Police were called to investigate an incident where the man grabbed the arm of a female from the township and began yelling at her. He fled the scene before police arrived and was later arrested for suspicion of DUI as a result of a nonreportable crash.
• A 53-year-old Kunkletown man is facing charges of driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia after policestopped him for traffic/equipment violations at 6:45 p.m.Aug. 19 at the intersection of Silver Springs Boulevard and Mountain View Drive in Polk Township.
Police said in addition to determining that the man was driving under the influence, he was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County DUI Center for processing.
• A 29-year-old Lehighton man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he was stopped at 7:48 p.m.Aug. 17 on Main Street in Parryville. Police said multiple indicators of impairment were observed after the man was stopped. He was given a blood test, the results of which are pending toxicology testing.
• Police arrested a 24-year-old Henryville man for driving under the influence of drugs at 11:45 p.m.Aug. 19. The arrest was the result of a traffic-equipment violation stop police made at the intersection of Kunkletown and Rolling Hill roads in Ross Township.
The man showed signs of impairment and was transported to the Monroe County DUI Center for processing of tests which are pending toxicology analysis.
• Two people were charged with possession of heroin, Xanax pills and drug paraphernalia after police stopped a vehicle for traffic and equipment violations at the intersection of routes 209 and 93 in Nesquehoning at 5 p.m.Aug. 17.
Police said a 25-year-old man from Tamaqua and a 26-year-old woman from Mahanoy City were found to be in possession of the above items. The man was driving the vehicle and is also facing charges of driving under the influence of drugs, pending the results of a blood test that was administered to him.
• A 45-year-old Walnutport woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance as a result of a traffic stop.
She was stopped while driving a vehicle at 8:33 p.m.Aug. 17 in the area of South Second Street in Lehighton, after which time she was taken for a blood test, the results of which are pending forensic analysis.
• A 56-year-old Andreas woman is facing a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of a one-vehicle crash at 5 p.m. Aug. 11 at the intersection of Ben Salem and Highpoint roads in East Penn Township.
Police at the Lehighton barracks said she was driving a vehicle west on Ben Salem Road when it swerved off the roadway and crashed into a ditch on the shoulder of the road. The woman was not injured.
