Tree hanging on wires to be taken down
A huge tree that’s leaning on wires in West Penn Township is a safety hazard and must come down, township officials said.
On a unanimous measure, the township’s board of supervisors Monday morning agreed to spend $3,500 to take the tree located on Spring Road down.
Supervisors’ Chairman Tony Prudenti said the township had four companies look at the tree; three of which said it was too big, and the fourth which said it would have to bring in a crane.
Supervisor Timothy Houser said the tree is definitely a hazard.
“I think we need to have it resolved,” Houser said.
Prudenti referred to the situation as an “imminent danger.”
“It’s a monster,” he said. “The only thing holding it up is an oak tree on the other side of the road.”
