Car strikes home on Fireline Road

State police at the Lehighton barracks said Eli J. DeKorte, 20, of Lehighton, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a crash at 9:39 a.m. Oct. 1 on Fireline Road in Palmerton.

Police said he sustained minor injuries and was transported to the St. Luke’s Gnaden Huetten Campus in Lehighton by Lehighton Ambulance.

Police said he was driving a 2003 Nissan 350Z westbound and was negotiating a left-hand curve in the road when he lost control of the vehicle. It exited the travel lane, crossed over the double yellow lines, traveled through the grass at 711 Fireline, hit shrubs between two residences and struck a home at 701 Fireline Road.

Police said the vehicle sustained heavy front-end damages and was towed from the scene.
