McAdoo traffic stops lead to charges
McAdoo police have released information on a recent traffic stop involving driving under the influence charges.
• Philip Bonafair, 52, of Kelayres, was stopped at 11:49 p.m. on Sept. 22. Officers noted an odor of marijuana, which Bonafair admitted smoking several hours earlier. Items found in his vehicle included a small glass jar with marijuana, a grinder containing marijuana, a plastic cylinder containing marijuana and a glass pipe with burned marijuana residue. He refused to submit to blood tests and was charged with DUI, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and the traffic offense.
• Eric Paranac, 28, of Hazle Township, was charged with two counts of DUI and a traffic offense after police received results of blood tests done on Aug. 27. Paranac’s vehicle was stopped at 2 a.m., then searched. Officers found a backpack containing marijuana in the back seat. The backpack belonged to a passenger, Jamie Stewart, 30, of McAdoo. Stewart was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Gino Cara, 53, of McAdoo, was charged with DUI after blood tests show he had a blood alcohol content of 0.155 percent when he was stopped on Kennedy Drive on Aug. 16. He was also charged with failing to stop for a red light.
• Jacob Makowski, 22, of Drums, was stopped on July 23 and taken for a blood test. Test results were positive for THC, the principal ingredient in marijuana. He was charged with two counts of DUI, possession of marijuana and the traffic offense.
