The Kidder Township supervisors approved the recommendation of the Emergency Services Commission to release funds to Lake Harmony Volunteer Fire Company for the purchase of a new rescue truck.

The new truck will be a 2019 Rescue 1, with a Spartan Gladiator chassis. The heavy rescue will be equipped with a compressed air foam system, also known as a CAF. The CAF will be equivalent to approximately 1,000 gallons of water.

The purchase price of the truck is $792,627. The township will provide $356,400 from the Emergency Services Equipment Fund. The fire company will apply for a $200,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. The balance of the money will come from the fire company’s General Fund.

The fire company will most likely take delivery of the truck late next year.

The supervisors as approved a donation request from the Lake Harmony Group for a stormwater project in the amount of $8,715.

Also during the meeting, Supervisor Thomas LaFond took a moment to thank Police Chief Matthew Kuzma and acknowledged that the township’s officers have stepped up their “community presence,” saying that the officers have made a greater effort to be more engaged throughout the community.
