Driver cited after Schuylkill crash

A Schuylkill County driver was cited following a one-vehicle crash that occurred around 9:30 a.m. Saturday along Glenworth Road in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Christopher G. Muench, 18, of Pottsville, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze northbound when he fell asleep at the wheel.

The car traveled through the north-southbound lanes and struck a culvert along the west berm.

The undercarriage struck the culvert, and after impact the car continued in a northwest direction for about 12 feet and then struck a mailbox.

After impact with the mailbox, the car continued another 24 feet before striking a chain-link fence.

After that impact the car became airborne briefly and continued northwest and landed on its roof. The car then continued northwest on its roof into a grass area along the west berm, where it came to rest.

Muench was not injured but the vehicle was towed.

Troopers cited Muench for the crash.
