Lansford arrest attempt spills on to Route 209
At least three people will face charges stemming from a fight Tuesday night in Lansford.
According to Lansford police, officers were called to the 100-block of West Patterson Street at 6:30 p.m. for a reported fight. One of the suspects, police added, was armed with a knife and fled to the area of the Friendly Food Mart in the same block.
“Officers responded there and found this subject, who at the time was acting in a violent and erratic manner, near the westbound lane of traffic on Patterson,” police posted on social media. “This subject ignored officers commands and attempted to run into the moving traffic and then, continuing to ignore commands, charged at the officer.”
After police were able to get the suspect down and detain them, friends of the suspect “began to attempt to physically intervene and defeat the officer’s ability to complete the arrest.”
“Because of this increasingly dangerous escalation, and the fact that this was occurring in the middle of Route 209,” police posted, “the Lansford officer requested assistance, which resulted in the quick response from surrounding agencies.”
Additional details will be released upon the completion of the investigation.
