Final papers for the purchase of 30 acres for the new Carbon Plaza shopping center on Route 443 just west of Lehighton were signed today, paving the way for the start of construction.

Officials of Carbon Plaza Inc. said work will begin at the site within two weeks. Completion date for the new shopping center will be the fall of 1970, they added.

The final 30 acres, added to several acres already obtained from Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reich, were purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Herman Steigerwalt of Lehighton R.4.

The anchors of the new mall will be department stores of Lane’s and W.T. Grant.
