No tax hike planned in Bowmanstown
Bowmanstown Borough Council approved a motion to advertise the proposed 2019 budget for review and approval at the next scheduled meeting in December.
The proposed budget calls for no tax increase. A budget shortfall of $193,000 will be covered by savings and surplus from the current year. It was noted that road repairs are included in the budget for the new year.
Council also took the following actions:
• Approved a motion to make repairs to stairwell lighting at the municipal building. Repairs will be completed by Storm Hill Electric at a cost of $900 minus tax. Repairs could be less if certain fixtures can be reused.
• Approved the purchase of three brake retarder signs that will be installed in the borough.
• Noted that there is an opening on the borough planning commission. Any residents interested are encouraged to apply.
