Schuylkill man nabbed in chase

A Schuylkill County man, wanted on felony warrants, was caught Monday following a car and foot chase.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said troopers observed Robert Rose, 57, of Schuylkill Haven, about 8:30 p.m. driving a Volkswagen Jetta southbound on Route 61 near the Penn State campus in North Manheim Township. Troopers knew there were felony warrants for his arrest.

Troopers attempted a traffic stop, with a chase along Route 61 traveling both southbound and northbound multiple times between Manheim Road and Market Street. The vehicle chase ended within the Sunnyside development in North Manheim Township. Rose abandoned his car and ran off. He was eventually apprehended.

He was arraigned on fleeing and eluding and related counts. He was committed to the county prison in Pottsville in lieu of $20,000 straight cash bail. Troopers were assisted by Schuylkill Haven police.
