W. Penn to leave tax rate in check

Published November 21. 2018 01:50PM

It’s a near certainty that West Penn Township residents won’t have to dole out more money in their municipal tax rate next year.

That’s after the township’s board of supervisors agreed Monday morning to advertise for adoption of the 2019 budget with no tax increase.

“We have a balanced budget right now,” board Chairman Tony Prudenti said.

Supervisors plan to grant the $2,561,361 budget final adoption when it meets at 9 a.m. Dec. 17.

Last December, supervisors agreed to adopt this year’s budget with no tax increase.

The $2.3 million spending plan left the millage rate unchanged at 4.75 mills.

As part of this year’s spending plan, supervisors agreed to give an extra $5,000 to both the township’s fire department and ambulance department.
