Tamaqua man picked up on a warrant

Published September 28. 2016 12:31PM

A Tamaqua man with no current permanent address was taken to the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville on Sept. 13 after Tamaqua police picked him up on an active warrant.

Duane Roy Allen II, 28, was at Boyer's Food Market on Cedar Street at 2 p.m., when he was observed by an officer who was familiar with the warrant. The warrant had been issued by District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua, after Allen failed to appear in court for a hearing on theft by unlawful taking charges.

The officer found two syringes and a metal spoon in Allen's pockets, for which he will be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bail in the theft case was set at $10,000 percentage, which he was unable to post.
