Walnutport Council agrees to hold the line on taxes
Before they even attempt to unwrap any gifts this holiday season, Walnutport residents received an early Christmas present.
Borough council agreed on Thursday to adopt the 2019 budget with no municipal tax increase.
Council unanimously adopted next year’s spending plan with no increase, which will leave the tax rate at 18.75 mills.
Councilwoman Jennifer Wentz said the budget still has a $10,000 sinking fund in it for the next round of a police car for the police department.
Council President William Turk complimented those responsible for shaping the budget.
“These things get worked out every year,” Turk said. “This has been carefully analyzed by our secretary and Jen.”
