A look back: Dec. 17, 1992
Greg McCullian, manager of the Tam Pallet Company in Mahoning Township, said today the plant will close effective Dec. 31. The firm, located near Normal Square, has manufactured wooden pallets for industrial shipping for 35 years.
McCullian said 23 jobs will be lost as a result of the shutdown. He said at one time, Tam Pallet employed up to 55 people.
McCullian attributed the closing to a shortage of raw material. He said the firm had been using a mixture of hardwoods, all from Pennsylvania sources. He pointed out there is a shortage of lumber nationwide and demands keep rising.
William McCullian of Lansford is president of Tam Pallet.
