Traffic stop leads to Monroe drug arrest

A 34-year-old man from Effort is facing drug possession charges after a traffic stop made by state police at the Lehighton barracks at 7:01 p.m. Dec. 12 at the intersection of Route 115 and Pilgrim Way in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said they initiated the traffic stop after the man committed a traffic violation, after which time the trooper detected an odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.

Police said a small amount of marijuana was found and seized from the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.
