A look back: Dec. 18, 1989
The Rite Aid Corporation, the nation’s largest drugstore chain, has opened a new store at the newly built Panther Valley Plaza in the west end of Lansford.
The store, located at Bertsch and Phillips streets, opened its doors to the public on Saturday and plans to celebrate with a variety of events and special offers Jan. 12 and 13.
According to Rite Aid supervisor Steve Kurtek, who oversees front end operations at 10 area stores, a survey conducted by the developer indicated a new drugstore will be a great benefit to area residents.
A full-service pharmacy managed by Donald Veglia of Freeland will be the focal point of the store, he said.
