Tax office

The office of Tamaqua Tax Collector Pam McCullion will be closed on Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25.

The office will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, and Monday, Dec. 31, to accommodate those making last-minute payments.

Mail payments must be postmarked no later than Dec. 31.

Taxpayers are reminded that school tax payments must be on separate checks from county/borough payments.

Electronic recycling

Tamaqua Borough has a new electronic recycling program for residents in response to new regulations that ban placing those items out for regular trash collection. There are disposal fees attached to the program and a limit of three items per household per month. The disposal fees are $5 for one item, $8 for two items and $10 for three items.

Electronic devices that will be accepted include desktop computers, laptops, monitors, televisions and computer peripherals such as keyboards, printers, mouse or other devices connected to a computer.

This is a drop-off program, so items must be transported to the drop-off site by first contacting someone at borough hall.

Proof of residency will be required.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. Sunday service in St. John’s Lutheran Church. The service will include the presentation of the combined worship and Sunday school program.

Also on Sunday, Confirmation and Sunday school classes will meet at 10:30 a.m.

Christmas Eve services will be held Monday at 4 and 7 p.m. The bell choir will present a special musical program at 3:45 p.m. Both services will include Holy Communion.
