Published December 20. 2018 04:18PM

A woman was seriously injured Thursday afternoon in an incident along North Street in Lehighton.

According to witnesses the woman was parked in front of the Lehighton post office and had just sat in her car. Before she turned to face the steering wheel, her car began to drift backwards down the hill with her legs still hanging out the car. Her vehicle struck a parked car, continuing on and coming to rest on the sidewalk.

She was treated at the scene by members of the Palmerton ambulance and Cetronia paramedics before being transported to a Lehigh Valley hospital trauma center. Lehighton police are investigating the incident.
