Residents of Patterson Street in Lansford are protesting the impending installation of parking meters in front of their homes.

The residents of the street, from Springgarden to Center streets, have sent a petition to the Lansford Borough Council bearing 58 signatures, stating they feel they are “being discriminated against by being forced to pay a fee for parking in front of our homes, a privilege which the residents of other streets do enjoy.”

The residents, who also contended their properties are assessed higher because of being in closer proximity to the business district,” said the meters are an “added burden forced upon us,” stating, “We resent this action and wish to have this law rescinded.”
