Carbon Commissioners business items

Carbon County Commissioners took the following action last week:

• Voted to advertise a proposed county ordinance authorizing the commissioners to enter into an intergovernmental cooperation agreement and authorizing the participation in the Pennsylvania Counties Risk Pool. Commissioner William O’Gurek abstained from the vote due to a conflict with his part-time employment.

• Reappointed Dwight Eisenhauser of Lehighton to a five-year term on the airport authority; and Jesse Walck of Summit Hill to a four-year term on the planning commission.

• Approved an amendment to the Northeast Pennsylvania mutual aid and cooperation agreement naming Northampton County as the new fiscal agent for the Northeast Pennsylvania Regional Counter Terrorism Task Force. The task force is comprised of Carbon, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, Susquehanna and Wayne counties.

• Approved a proposal from the Housing and Redevelopment Insurance Exchange for workers’ compensation insurance for 2019 in the amount of $411,731. This is an increase of $3,214 from last year.

• The next meeting of the Carbon County Commissioners will be immediately following the annual Carbon County Salary Board meeting at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 7. There are no commissioners meetings on Jan. 3 or 10.
