A Wilkes-Barre pastor has accepted the call to serve St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in North Weissport.

The Rev. David R. Williams is the pastor succeeding the Rev. Thomas Haines, who resigned on May 15 to serve as a pastor in Mountain Iron, Minnesota.

Williams has been the pastor of St. Peter’s Church, Wilkes-Barre for the past 17 years. Born in New Woodstock, New York, he graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri.

Haines had served as pastor of the 400-member St. Matthew’s congregation for seven years.
