A Facebook posting and a confidential tip led Tamaqua police to pick up a woman wanted by Lansford police on Dec. 13, 2018.

The tipster contacted the Schuylkill County Communications Center with information on the whereabouts of Ashley Weirich, 24, of Tamaqua. She was seen at a mini mart on Center Street, wearing a green “Jets” hoodie, bluejeans and a black backpack.

Officers found her in front of the store and ran her name to confirm the warrant. They found multiple warrants, from the Lansford police and the Carbon County sheriff’s office.

Weirich was searched before being taken into custody and freely admitted to having a syringe inside a wallet in her purse. Officers also found a clear plastic baggie with a white crystal-like substance, suspected to be methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, two needle caps, one Oxycodone and five empty baggies commonly used for heroin.

She was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct.
