PSU Hazleton holding SAT prep course

Published January 09. 2019 12:46PM

Penn State Hazleton is holding a course designed to prepare high school students who will be taking the SAT this spring.

The course will help students learn about the format of the SAT and get tips for taking the test. It will be held Mondays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., beginning this Monday through Feb. 28.

The $350 fee includes books and materials.

The course will help students prepare for the four parts of the SAT: reading, writing and language, math and the optional essay portion.

Students will have a chance to learn and practice the variety of reading and writing passages in the SAT and to practice the math skills that will be tested.

The course emphasizes familiarity with the current format of the SAT; the recommended order for taking the test; ways to increase reading comprehension and understanding of paired passages; essay strategies and tips; problem-solving methods to develop math skills; and more.

Students will learn the advantages and disadvantages of guessing, how to reduce the time needed to answer questions, how the tests are scored and how to compute a score on sample tests.

Course materials are practical and relevant for the current SAT exams. Students are given homework assignments between classes and sample SAT exams are given as practice tests.

Proof.
The age of critical thinking is over. Tell the kids the answers, teach them what to learn, not how to learn. What to think, not how to think. In the world of academia, the end (outcome) justifies the means.
You see folks, this is why we have mush brains who embrace the insanity of socialism, gender confusion, and going financially in a deep deep hole after scoring those high SAT's. All this, so they can go get their heads filled with mush at the university, PSU being one of the worse. Our system of education is failing in many ways, and here is a one example of why. Did you ever stop and wonder why they desire to have every child qualify and attend these centers of "Higher Education"?
Answer: Indoctrination by the progressive thinkers.
