James S. McChesney, a native of Toronto, Canada, is the new general superintendent of the Panther Valley Division of Bethlehem Mines, headquartered in Tamaqua.

He is advancing from the position of general superintendent of Bethlehem’s Drummond Dolomite Inc., located on Drummond Island, Michigan.

McChesney succeeds Michael C. Korb, who was recently named manager of engineering and development in Bethlehem’s stone anthracite business unit.

McChesney joined Bethlehem Steel in 1953 and was assigned to its Cornwall, Pennsylvania, division before moving on to positions in Canada and Venezuela, and, eventually, Michigan.
