Palmerton council in other business:

• Renewed its lease with Palmerton Memorial Park Association.

• Approved its 2018 per capita tax exoneration list of $390.

• Appointed Berkheimer Associates as collector for balance of 2018 per capita taxes.

• Palmerton Police Chief Randy Smith entered the Deferred Retirement Option Plan. His official retirement was set for Jan. 31, 2022.

• William Strlbany was reappointed to the Tree Commission.

• Jason Behler was appointed as fire chief of Palmerton Fire Department. Mike Kercsmar will serve as assistant fire chief.

• The Palmerton Municipal Fire Company’s list was approved.

• Eleven members of the fire company were approved for the volunteer service credit program adopted by the borough on Jan. 10.

• The borough renewed its snowplowing agreement with Lower Towamensing Township.

• The borough approved the land development plan for 730 Church St., which previously housed St. George’s Russian Orthodox Church.
