Students participate in District 10 Band

Four students from Carbon County schools successfully auditioned for and participated in PMEA District 10 Band that was held Jan. 25 at Catasauqua High School.
Abigail Hoppes, Lehighton; Logan Polak, Panther Valley; Mitchell Hourt, Palmerton; and Calvin Maholick, Lehighton all were accepted for the performance.
The guest director was Dr. Andrew Yozviak, director of bands from West Chester University.
Musical selections included “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “Salute to PMEA,” “Illumination,” “Elegy for a Young American,” “Commando March” and “Gloriosa.”
Over 860 students from seven counties auditioned for district band, with 164 students from 49 school districts being accepted.
As a result of re-auditions at District Band, Mitchell and Calvin were selected to go on to the next level, which is Region V Band at Conrad Weiser High School March 7-9.
