Carbon County court – ARD

Eight first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed on Monday in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

Nicholas A. Bock, 26, of Lehighton, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of marijuana. He was arrested on Sept. 21, 2018, by Palmerton police in the 500 block of Mauch Chunk Road.

He was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and render 25 hours of community service.

Paige Morgan Buckery, 18, of Drums, Luzerne County, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of marijuana. She was arrested on Sept. 17, 2018, by Weatherly police along Plane Street.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Sarah Harrison, 18, of Hazle Township, Luzerne County, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of marijuana. She was arrested on Sept. 17, 2018, by Weatherly police along Plane Street. This is a companion case to Buckery’s.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Emily Nicole Buss, 23, of Kunkletown, was placed for a year on a charge of theft. She was arrested by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store where she was then an employee. The store reported a jewelry shipment missing.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, make restitution of $352 and stay out of the store.

Jesse Phillip James, 21, of New Ringgold, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Sept. 16, 2018, by Lansford police along Ridge Street.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Marta McLaughlin, 40, of Nesquehoning, was placed for six months on a charge of persistent disorderly conduct. She was arrested on June 28, 2018, by Nesquehoning police in the area of Laurel Street.

She was assessed $650 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Demetri Michael Nash, 25, of Nesquehoning, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of marijuana. He was arrested on Aug. 28, 2018, by Nesquehoning police in the 100 block of West Mill Street.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Adam Mychal Weiss, 20, of Bethlehem, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, marijuana. He was arrested on Aug. 1, 2018, following a traffic stop by Lansford police at Patterson and Andrewville streets.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
