William Z. Scott of Pocono Manor, a Lansford native, was unanimously confirmed by his former colleagues of the Senate as a member of the State Liquor Control Board.

Scott was appointed in December by then-Gov. William W. Scranton to the board on an interim basis. He was confirmed by a 48-0 vote for a full six-year term to the position that pays $17,000 per year.

Scott, 50, served in the State Assembly from 1947-54 and the Senate from 1955-66.

His presence on the board gives the Republicans a 2-1 majority. He joins GOP member Edwin Winner of Montgomery County and Democrat Abraham Cohen of York on the board.
