Middle Creek bridge reopened

Published February 05. 2019 12:50PM

The Middle Creek bridge in Kresgeville has opened both lanes to traffic after being under construction since June.

Final paving on the bridge approach will be completed when temperatures are warmer in early spring. With the bridge reopened to two lanes, motorists may notice a slight bump as they drive across the bridge until a polyester polymer concrete overlay is applied to the deck.

The overlay is designed to protect the deck from the wear and tear brought about by Pennsylvania’s harsh winters, and reduce the long-term maintenance costs. The polyester material can only be applied when temperatures are consistently above 40 degrees, dry weather is forecast and after the bridge concrete has cured for at least 30 days.

An alternating traffic pattern controlled by flaggers will be used to maintain traffic through the project area when the overlay is applied and for final paving in the spring

Great! Make sure you stop by the kresgeville deli and get a sandwich. I heard the DIKhead construction crew foreman wouldn't let the guys buy anything there because the deli owner asked if they could spare a little room in the parking lot.
