Monroe woman facing charges

A Monroe County woman is facing drug charges following an incident on Monday.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers were dispatched a 5:56 p.m. to Carol Terrace to a report of a 12-year-old boy who had overdosed on drugs. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the boy and his family which led to a follow-up interview with another juvenile.

Further investigation led officers to the 5300 block of Lockwood Drive, in Tobyhanna, where Maria Miranda, 54, was taken into custody. A search warrant was executed on the residence and evidence of drug use was collected.

Police have charged Miranda with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, both felonies; corruption of minors, reckless endangerment, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.

Miranda was arraigned on the charges and placed in the county prison in Snydersville, unable to post bail.
