Carbon County court — ARD

Six people were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on various criminal charges recently.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

Judge Joseph J. Matika placed the six for one-year terms. Those placed were:

Craig Balliet, 51, of Bowmanstown, was placed on a theft charge. He was arrested on Nov. 29, 2018, by Palmerton police.

He was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.

Mark Frederick Carman, 43, of Aquashicola, was placed on a charge of terroristic threats. He was arrested by state police at Lehighton for an incident on Dec. 18, 2018.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victims.

Joshua Donovan Doyen, 27, of Bridgeport, Montgomery County, was placed on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested on May 28, 2018, by state police at Fern Ridge.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.

Jesse James Nalesnik, 44, of Palmerton, was placed on a charge of simple assault. He was arrested on Jan. 5 by Palmerton police.

He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, attend and successfully complete an anger management course and have no contact with the victim.

Mandi L. Reiss, 42, of Palmerton, was placed on a charge of possession of an instrument of crime. She was arrested on Dec. 1, 2018, by Palmerton police.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim.

Uzair Jasim Williams, 18, of Nesquehoning, was placed on a charge of retail theft. He was charged by Mahoning Township police for an incident on Feb. 10, 2018, at the Walmart store.

He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the Walmart store.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
