Carbon driver in Lehigh crash

Published March 15. 2019 09:04AM

A Carbon County driver was involved in a crash in Lehigh County in which she was cited.

State police at Fogelsville said the crash occurred at 4:42 a.m. on Sunday along Route 143 (Kings Highway), in Lynn Township.

Troopers said Cheyenne M. Zirkle, 22, of Palmerton, was driving a 1996 Honda Civic eastbound, near the intersection with Strawberry Court, at a time when it was sleeting and foggy. The road surface had patchy spots of ice, troopers noted.

Zirkle’s vehicle hit a patch of ice, causing her to lose control. The vehicle left the road and struck an embankment on the right side, then re-entered the road and came to final rest in the westbound lane.

Zirkle and her passenger, Sarah C. Zirkle, 24, also of Palmerton, were not injured. The Civic had to be towed.

Troopers cited her for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
