Two injured in Schuylkill crash

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 1:40 p.m. on Saturday along Oak Grove Road in Pine Grove Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Leo A. Securda, 31, of Minersville, was westbound and Emma M. Koontz, 21, of Pine Grove, was eastbound. As Securda negotiated a right curve he entered Koontz's lane of travel. Securda's 2014 Ford Explorer struck Koontz's 2014 Subaru Impreza. After impact the Explorer spun counter-clockwise and came to rest facing south in the eastbound lane. The Impreza was pushed into a ditch off the eastbound lane.

Koontz and a passenger with Securda, Ashley M. Securda, 29, of Minersville, were injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson Street, Pottsville.

Troopers cited Securda for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
