Damaged dugout repaired in Walnutport

A dugout at the Walnutport Playground Association’s athletic fields on Lincoln Avenue that was damaged by wind has been repaired.

Brian Filchner, president of the WPA, told borough council on Thursday that wind damage occurred to the dugout on the third base side.

Filchner said the incident occurred back in the fall, when heavy winds picked up the roof and separated the blocks of the dugout.

He told council the cost to repair the dugout is $1,800, and that the WPA will pay for it.

Filchner said they are expected to start playing ball in a month, which ramped up the need for the work to be completed.

Council said they understood, but would have liked to have been approached sooner.
