A look back: March 19, 2008
Memorial plaques honoring three past commanders of American Legion Post 314, Lehighton, were placed upon the newly established “Wall of Honor” in the recently remodeled meeting room on the lower level of the post home.
The honorees memorialized were Charles B. Shutt – WWI – USMC, past commander-1919, adjutant; Lewis N. Markley – WWII-Korea – USMC, past commander-1988, finance officer; and Lester V. Keiper – WWII-Korea – USN, past commander-1973, 77, 86, adjutant.
Post Commander James L. Zanders and Finance Officer Harry J. Wynn III presided over the unveiling while family members of the three men attended to get a look at the plaques.
