No injuries in Chestnuthill crash

Andrew M. Deegan, 23, of Effort, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 11:37 p.m. Oct. 1 on Weir Lake Road in Chestnuthill Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said he was driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra southbound and was traveling at a speed too fast for conditions when he swerved to avoid striking an animal that crossed the roadway in front of the vehicle. Police said he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave his lane of travel before striking a tree. The car came to rest facing southeast.

Police said Deegan was cited for failure to drive his vehicle at a safe speed.
